Encapsulating Flex-Fit Frame with Kerf

The Rusco insulated steel door delivers all three marks of peak steel door performance: energy efficiency, security and durability. Two 18 or 22 gauge steel skins are locked together by a vinyl V-groove interlock around a rigid polyurethane core, so the skins never touch and there is no glue to fail. The encapsulating Flex-Fit frame wraps the existing head and both jambs in 16 gauge galvanized steel, covering the old frame completely for a clean, fully finished replacement, with a kerf for compression weatherstripping.

  • Door skins: 18 or 22 gauge cold-rolled steel, zinc-coated and primed over the entire outer surface
  • Door skins finished in polyester powder paint, electrostatically applied and baked 20 minutes at 350°F; standard colour range, with special orders for architectural requirements
  • Returned facing panels locked into place with a rigid vinyl extrusion, providing a positive thermal break
  • 14 gauge galvanized steel stabilizing member around the complete door perimeter
  • Foamed-in-place polyurethane core, 2.3 to 2.7 lb/ft³, bonded to all inside facings; R-factor 13.5; U-rating .12 (slab only)
  • U-rating of a non-thermally broken hollow metal frame is .21, tested and certified by NCTL for Energy Star
  • Snap-in extruded vinyl edge cap
  • 3" x 18" wood lock block; prepared for standard locksets
  • 1½ pair 4" x 4½" steel hinges, 26D, fastened to steel stabilizing members and steel frame reinforcing plates (4" x 4" hinges available for wood frames and replacement steel frames)
  • Frame: 16 gauge galvanized primed steel encapsulating Flex-Fit frame with kerf, wrapping the head and both jambs; compression weatherstripping on all sides
  • 9 gauge steel reinforcing plates at all hinge locations; reinforcing plate at lock and deadbolt locations
  • Completely thermally broken aluminum threshold, with adjustable vinyl sill sweeps featuring an extended inner leg
  • Options: Hollow Metal Frame; Adjustable Flex Fit Frame or Steel Replacement R-Frame for insert to an existing wood frame; ADA sills
  • 1-year warranty from date of installation on design, material and workmanship (door must be factory finished)
